Some people seem a little confused on some facts

Many modern Wiccans, especially those who have come to the Craft over the past decade, seem a little confused on some facts. First is just how old Wicca actually is. Second is the source(s) of our ideas and practices. Third is what we actually believe. Now, I am not going to school anyone on these details, and I don't think it really appropriate to judge their validity to harshly because I am fully aware of where a great deal of this misinformation (or lack of information) comes from. We will leave that can of worms sealed for now.

I will say in respect to any and all Wiccans; It is wise to look to our known and provable history and rest our proclamations of descendant authority upon those points of factual history rather than point to people and places that are either completely fictional or totally unrelated to us. Wicca is NOT the revival of some ancient European witch cult. There never were any known ancient worshipers of a magical Goddess. Wiccan ritual structure and form, as well as our techniques and philosophies have nothing in common with ancient Celts, Druids, Teutons, Irish Pagans, Shamans, or other such hookie. Our spiritual technologies come almost directly from the venerable and august Esoteric Orders and Initiates who so skillfully wrought the works that they new would assure the emergent spirit that is beginning to surface in our root communities, even in defiance of the predictive claims of the same Order's successive bodies.

It is not worth the effort of our communities to self-marshal ideas and information that supports or furthers the lies set out by self-proclaimed authorities and would be hereditary Wiccans (Who at best could hardly go back two generations.) who are simply feeding their own egos in shallow attempts to claim fame and release one from their prosperity through offering to share the real Wicca. No. It is not worth the effort at all, and especially when we consider that the Mystery that is budding in our midst is potent enough to undo all that has been slumped upon us over the past sixty years or so.

Did Crowley plan this? Was Gardner aware? Did they conspire together to create what is coming of us? They could have, but given their known personages, it is more likely the engineering of persons and powers long before their days and schemes. Maybe an insurance policy of sorts to ensure the survival of certain realities that they knew would come into jeopardy through time and degeneration of the very Mystery Schools they established in ages passed. Who knows for sure? And, does it matter?

Wicca today is most definitely not the Wicca of yesterday. We have grown, learned, and adapted to major cultural changes, and political/social climates that vary from locale to locale. While it all seems to be chaotically spiraling out of control and our community seems to be as shattered and internally oppositional as could be, the truth is that from our core something is growing, and realities are being revealed that could not have come from any other place, or people, or spirit. Tide and season turn true, and so time will come to reveal the inherent and absolute nature of Wicca, beyond the lies and media misrepresentation. The day will come when the meaning of Craft of the Wise will hold deep and reverent meaning.

What much of the world and even most of our younger body perceives to be Wicca may not be wholly accurate, and so it is. If their heart is sincere and their efforts made in true yearning, they will not go unanswered, and we will have no need to be concerned for their growth. We will have faith in their attainment as we have faith that the earth will nourish its green and provide everything it needs to grow to its fullest potential. We will not expect more or less.

What Wicca is becoming is hard to define, but I can say that elements of its internal philosophy reveal more that is truly initiatory and transformative than most of its Occult kin combined. We can see its philosophies evolving to be more in keeping with what the initiates of generations long since passed claimed to be undefiled truth and wisdom. As we draw closer to the heart of our Mystery we discover more and more that we are much less removed from the cradle of all religions than any of us might have presumed before.

Have we always been this way? Have we always been these people? Yes and no. Individually we are changed and ever changing creatures, drawn into the greenhouse and fed rich ideas to accelerate our growth, and we may never return to the mundane existences we had known prior to our first real step along the Path. Yes, as a whole, as a tradition, we have always been this. It is a part of the Wiccan observance to be transformed in these ways, to realize these ideas, discover these realities, and some day reveal them in such a way that there illuminating essence will be beyond the pale efforts of angry and egotistical men to corrupt. What a day that will be.

In closing here, I can only say, Wicca is exactly what it is said to be, but not what you may believe it to be.

    Blessed Be.
